The cream of South African Junior Golf tees off tomorrow 8 January, at Kuils River Golf Club in the first tournament of the 2014 SA Women’s amateur golf calendar.

Top ranked Bianca Theron should be favourite playing on her previous home course, but in-form Kaleigh Telfer and Ivanna Samu from Gauteng, and WP’s Ji Sun Kang and Cara Gorlei will all present strong challenges.    Local challenges will come from Paarl’s Bianca Lohbauer and fast-improving Crystal Beukes from Stellenbosch.

The championship is over 54 holes, with 18 holes tomorrow and 36 holes on Thursday 9th.   The 10 – 18 handicap Division plays 36 holes stroke play and the 19 – 33 handicapped players will compete over 36 holes in a stableford competition – all playing 18 holes each day.

After the high temperatures of the previous weeks, the Cape is experiencing unseasonal rain accompanied by a strong South Easter this week so players can expect testing conditions.

First tee-off is at 07h15 and 44 players will be competing.
